Fun Facts about Disney’s Ice Castle in Times Square #LimitedTimeMagic

Isn’t this Ice Castle that Disney built gorgeous? And to see this majestic piece of ice with a backdrop of Time Square was beautiful!

Simply stunning.

Here’s the facts on Disney’s Ice Castle:  ( And sadly it is no longer standing – it was truly for a limited time only just like the Limited Time Magic Disney will sprinkle for guests in 2013. Ice does melt and I can tell you it was melting away already by 12 noon yesterday!)

  • The ice castle stands 25 feet tall, 9 feet deep and 15 feet wide.
  • It was created using 45,000 pounds of ice – 267 blocks of ice in all.
  • The castle was first assembled into 37 pieces, then boxed and driven to Times Square to reassemble.
  • Each of the 37 pieces was lifted into place by a 15-ton crane.
  • Construction took 12 hours as craftsmen worked around the clock to erect the castle.

This was truly a spectacle to see.

Here’s a link to my video and photos of the Disney Ice Castle in Times Square for the Limited Time Magic press event.

The Avengers Monorail is live at Disney

My kids would LOVE riding this newly debuted Avengers themed monorail.

As it is now,  the Monorail is one of Kenzie and Kyle’s FAVORITE attractions while at Disney World and now to have it wrapped Avenger super hero style totally rocks.  Disney and Marvel’s highly-anticipated “The Avengers” hits theaters on May 4, 2012 so Disney is pumping up this movie as they ready for the big release this spring.

My husband is super hero obsessed and my 4 year old son is quickly following his lead so this movie is on our most watch list.

Disney Fantasy Arrives in New York City today Feb. 28th, 2012

After traveling some 3800 miles across the Atlantic from Germany,  the Disney Fantasy has hit New York City waters and sailed by the Statue of Liberty this morning.

I’ll be heading up to New York tomorrow to tour the ship. I am DYING to see it up close and find out what’s similar and what’s new when comparing it to it’s sister ship, the Disney Dream, that we sailed last year.

The Christening Ceremony for the Disney Fantasy will be this Thursday March 1st and I can’t wait to attend this gala event. Wonder who the Godmother will be? In just 48 hours this well kept secret will be revealed!

Stay tuned for photos and video from my tour on Thursday along with details on the Christening ceremony. In March we’ll be sailing on the new Disney Fantasy as a family to experience all it has to offer. We can not wait for our trip as sailing as a passenger on Disney Cruise Line truly is a fantasy experience for families.

Eli Manning Hits Disney World less than 24 Hours After Winning the Super Bowl

I’m not sure how Disney magaically whisks these winning Football players off to Florida so quickly, but less than 24 hours after winnig the Super Bowl, Eli Manning was partying with Mickey Mouse and celebrating in his very own parade at the Magic Kingdom. Go Giants!

Uma Thurman Visits Walt Disney World

Celeb Mom hangs with Donald Duck this week during a family vacation to Orlando which included a visit to the Magic Kingdom.

Uma and Donald Duck are posing in a 1900s-inspired fire engine on Main Street. Looks a little chilly this week as Uma’s sporting quite a few layers. Wonder which rides her kids loved best at the Magic Kingdom? Earlier this week she was spotted at Universal so it looks like they are taking in all the Orlando area attractions.

Mad T Party

Coming soon to Disney California Adventure park  - summer 2012.

I’ve never been to Disneyland, but this Mad T Party sounds sweet and will be a total bonus experience as only Disney can create.

This is a concept image, but I’m imagining serious dancing music, vibrant colors, and outrageous food.

The release says that, “Guests will fall into the rabbit hole and land in a wild and whimsical world at Mad T Party. Inspired by world of Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland,” the all-new nighttime family celebration will feature a live band, unique entertainment, fun-filled games and plenty of dancing. Familiar faces from the story will be re-imagined in new ways to immerse guests in a captivating world that’s filled with exclusive signature foods, beverages and merchandise offerings.”

Disney Fantasy Floats Out to Sea

With Fireworks galore – it’s official! The Disney Fantasy floated out of the enclosed building dock at Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany for very first time yesterday. Take a peek!

The Disney Fantasy is the sister ship to last year’s incredible Disney Dream - which we sailed on for the Christening Voyage in 2011. Watch our mini movie adventure and read all about it here.

The Disney Fantasy will sail on it’s maiden voyage on March 31st, 2012.

The Christening date for the newest ship to Disney Cruise Line’s fleet has not been announced, but it will be docked in New York City from February 28th- March 2nd, 2012 so we expect to hear more insider details soon as multiple travel agents that are friends of  have been invited to tour the ship in NYC during that timeframe. Stay tuned!

The Disney Fantasy will be very similar to the Disney Dream – complete with an AquaDuck water coaster  too – but will also have many new exciting features like the AquaLab adventure, two new broadway style Disney shows, and more!
